Széll Gábor vagyok, tv műsorok vágójaként dolgozom 25 éve, de pár éve megtanultam a kézi szitanyomás mesterségét, hogy valami kézzel történő alkotást is végezzek, ne csak digitálisat. Kovács ‘Vörös’ Réka volt a tanítóm, akinél először egyszemélyes szakkörön tanulhattam fél évig, majd felajánlotta, hogy műhelybérlő társként folytassam ismerkedésemet a szitázással. Teljesen lenyűgözött ez az analóg eljárás, amit már több ezer éve is használtak kelmék mintázására, persze ma már más anyagokkal dolgozunk, de a módszer nagyjából ugyanaz maradt.
Glaukusz néven saját rajzaim, grafikáim alapján készítek pólókat, táskákat, járok vásárokra is, ahol személyesen is találkozhatok a vásárlókkal, élőben is megtekinthetők, megtapinthatók a mintázott termékek.
I am Gabor Szell, I have been working as a TV editor for 25 years, but a few years ago I learned to screenprint manually, so that I could create something by hand, not only digitally. My teacher was Reka ‘Voros’ Kovacs, with whom I first studied in a one-person workshop for half a year, and then she offered me to continue my studies in screen printing as a studio partner. I was fascinated by this analogous process, which has been used for thousands of years to pattern fabrics, of course we work with different materials now, but the method is much the same.
Under the name Glaukusz, I make T-shirts and bags based on my own drawings and graphics, and I also go to fairs, where I can meet the customers in person, and where you can see and touch the patterned products.
A Glaukusz név eredete
A Glaukusz elnevezés egy tengeri csiga, a “Glaucus Atlanticus” nevéből jött. Csodálatosan néz ki ez az élőlény, mintha csak egy másik Világból származna. Hívják még tengeri fecskének, kék sárkánynak, jellegzetessége, hogy fejjel lefelé lebeg a víz felszínén és az áramlatokkal utazik. Ez a tulajdonsága, ez a létezésbe és felső gondoskodásba vetett hite nagyon megérintett, így hát a Glaukusz nevet választottam és én is rábíztam magam az Áramlatra. ॐ
The origin of the name Glaukusz
The name Glaukusz comes from the name of a sea snail, “Glaucus Atlanticus”. This creature looks amazing, as if it were from another world. It is also called a sea swallow, a blue dragon, and is characterised by the fact that it floats upside down on the surface of the water and travels with the currents. This quality, this faith in existence and in the care of the upper world, touched me so much that I chose the name Glaukusz and I entrusted myself to the Flow. ॐ
Ihlet / Inspiration
A rajzaim többnyire Természet inspirálta minták, vagy képzeletbeli, idegen világom tájai, entitásai. Néha keverednek, átszivárognak. Sokat járok a természetbe, járom a belső utam is és ha elég csendben tudok maradni, a világ felfedi csodáit. Minden világ.
My drawings are mostly Nature inspired patterns, or landscapes and entities from my imaginary world. Sometimes they blend, leak through. I go to nature a lot, I also walk my inner path and if I can be quiet enough, the world reveals its wonders. Every world.
Kézjegy / Handmark
Meg kellett tanulnom, hogy az apró hibák, eltérések a kézműves alkotás jegyei. Ezekből látszik, hogy nem egy automata gépsor gyártotta. Ezért nincs két egyforma póló vagy táska. Kézzel, szívvel és lélekkel készült. Próbáld ki, szerintem ez viselés közben is érződik!
I had to learn that small mistakes and deviations are the mark of a handcraft. They show that it was not made by a machine. Thats why there are no two tees or bags alike. It was made with hand, from heart and soul. Try it, I think you can feel it while wearing it!
Minőség / Quality
A szitanyomás az egyik legjobb, legidőtállóbb textil mintázási folyamat. A festéket bepréseljük a textil szálai közé, majd hőpréssel fixáljuk. Ezután a póló kifordítva, max 40º C-on gépben is mosható, kifordítva vasalható. Csak 100% pamut pólókat használok.
Screenprinting is one of the best, most durable textile patterning processes. The dye is pressed into the fabric fibres and then heat pressed to fix it. After this, the inside out T-shirt can be machine-washed at max 40º C and can be ironed. I only use 100% cotton T-shirts.
Környezet-tudatosság
A Természet nagy barátom, ezért magánemberként és alkotóként is igyekszem kímélni. Bringával közlekedem, vonattal járok, vegán vagyok, közösségi komposztra hordom a konyhai zöldség hulladékot, újrahasznosított papírtasakokba csomagolom a pólókat a vásárokban a vevőknek. A pólók újak, 100% jó minőségű pamutból készülnek, OEKO-TEX® Standard 100 minősítésűek, ezért hosszútávra szólnak a rajtuk lévő mintával együtt. Viseld sokáig, óvjuk közösen a Földet!
Eco-consciousness
Nature is a great friend of mine, so I try to spare it as a private person and as a creator. I go by bike, I travel by train, I’m vegan, I take my green waste to community compost, I wrap T-shirts in recycled paper bags for my customers at the fairs. The T-shirts are new, made of 100% good quality cotton, and certified according to OEKO-TEX® Standard 100, so they will last a long time with the pattern on them. Wear them for a long time, let’s protect the Earth together!
